Mindfulness has become somewhat of a buzz word in our current community and culture, and there is a reason for this. We are finding that whether it's due to more internal or external stressors, that we are needing more ways to regulate our nervous systems in a very busy and demanding culture. Mindfulness helps us train our brains to have a focused awareness of the present moment in a non-judgmental way. It allows us to observe things without attaching to them in a harmful way. For this and many more reasons we find it to be a crucial component in all healing and being.
At Strength in Motion, we view mindfulness as a core concept behind all that we do and teach. If we are mindful, we are awake and responsible in our engagements in the world. Mindfulness takes us out of being reactive without thought and encourages us to be responsive and intentional about all that we say and do. We acknowledge that this level of awareness can be intimidating and also takes practice, patience, courage, and guidance. We are here to support you in this.
Mindfulness is a tool that we each could benefit from whether you are struggling with impulses, working towards sobriety, are having trouble focusing at school or work, are engaged in relationship distress or are just a human navigating life on this earth…mindfulness is for everyone. At SIM we have a variety of classes to target different themes and age groups. We look forward to supporting you on this journey.
