Movement Classes

At Strength In Motion, we believe in supporting the whole person - mind, body, and spirit. The specific types of classes we offer have been selected for an important reason. Movement is medicine, and our studio is a safe place to explore, practice, be playful, and become more acquainted with our most authentic selves. It can also be a place where we witness our challenges and ground ourselves in our body's wisdom. At SIM, we see movement as a crucial component in getting well and staying well. 

 

All of the offerings you'll find below are trauma-informed, heart-centered, and intentionally based on your needs. Because movement is medicine for all, we have created a studio that is a welcoming place for people of all ages and ability levels to practice, learn, and heal.

Current Groups

Feldenkrais® Group Classes

When: Wednesdays 5:30- 6:30pm & Sundays 10:00-11:30am

Who: All levels welcome

What: Feldenkrais® group classes help you create new neural pathways through guided sequences of simple movements, done mostly lying down or sitting. These movements calm your nervous system and serve as a space to optimize your mind/body connections. Through the process of finding efficient and enjoyable ways of moving your arms and legs and spine, Feldenkrais® classes are a place to practice making new choices about what actions are best for you, from moment to moment. This process of self-inquiry through movement takes place not only in the muscles and bones, but throughout your whole self. The object of this learning is to remove outside authority from your inner life, which feels even better than it sounds.

Facilitator: Ethan Cowan (Wednesdays); Rotation of Kim Hansen, Kristen Mylander, Tres Hofmeister, and Matthew Zepelin (Sundays)

Earth Ways Yoga- Classes Starting April!

When: Monday 6-7:15pm, Wednesday 8-9:15am and 6:45-8pm, Sunday 8-9:30am

Who: All levels welcome

What: Earth Ways Yoga blends the Chinese philosophy of Five-Element Acupuncture, the Indian Chakra System, and Native American Nature Ways to deliver a powerful experience through the practice of yoga.  It is this unique blend of methodologies that empowers students to reconnect with their roots and step into their own healing with breath, imagery and the body’s full sensory system.  All levels are welcome with the intensity mirroring a restorative to slow flow style of class.
