Travis Herbert MSW

Psychotherapist

Sometimes life is hard and it can be difficult to figure out the path forward.  Travis believes that one of the greatest gifts in life is working through hard times and coming out the other side with a better understanding of yourself in the process. He has witnessed therapeutic relationships lead to transformative and lasting positive change in the lives of young people and adults. If we decide that working together is a good fit, Travis is committed to supporting your journey so that you may find your path toward healing and growth.

Travis’ style is direct, collaborative and strengths based. Drawing from over 20 years of experience working with children and adults in a variety of settings, his therapeutic practice is informed by traditional talk therapy modalities such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) alongside less traditional approaches including spending time outdoors, hiking, adventure-based activities, movement and art.

“The present moment contains past and future. The secret of transformation is in the way we handle this very moment.” Thich Nhat Hanh

Travis received his Master’s of Social Work from the University of New England in Portland, Maine and his undergraduate degree in Recreation Management from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.  He has spent over 15 years working with youth and adults facilitating outdoor, adventure-based experiences, including 12 years working for Outward Bound. Along with these experiences in the outdoors, Travis has worked with youth in foster care, survivors of trauma and abuse, young people in the criminal justice system and in a public school setting.
